   Power down the tablet

   Press and hold the power button, then select the option to turn off the Kindle Fire completely. Disconnect any charging cables.

   Remove the MicroSD card

   Open the memory card slot cover on the side of the device and eject your MicroSD card. Set the card aside in a safe location.

   Warm the outer perimeter

   Guide the pick carefully around the bottom corner and across the bottom edge. Twist the pick slightly to release stubborn clips.

   Continue sliding the pick along the right edge of the chassis. Ensure all perimeter clips are fully disengaged.

   Separate the back cover

   Lift the plastic rear shell straight off the internal assembly. Place the back cover aside.

   Peel back protective tape

   Use fine tweezers to gently lift and peel back any black Kapton tape covering the battery connector and motherboard. Save the tape for reassembly.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Insert the flat edge of a plastic spudger under the battery connector harness. Pry straight up to disconnect it from the motherboard socket.

    Warm the battery adhesive

    Apply gentle heat to the battery using a hair dryer for 1 to 2 minutes. Keep the heat source moving to avoid localized overheating.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery. Allow 60 seconds for the alcohol to break down the adhesive bond.

    Pry up the old battery

    Slide a plastic opening card under the top edge of the battery. Work the card slowly beneath the battery to free it without bending the cell.

    Clean the frame surface

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue from the tablet housing using a microfiber cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply replacement adhesive

    Lay fresh double-sided adhesive strips onto the metal frame where the original battery sat. Firmly press down and peel off the protective backing paper.

    Position the new battery

    Align the replacement battery in the housing, ensuring the cable reaches the motherboard port. Press down firmly to stick it in place.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Align the battery plug over its motherboard socket and press down evenly until it snaps into place. Reapply the protective Kapton tape.

    Reattach the back cover

    Align the back cover onto the tablet and press firmly around the entire perimeter. Ensure all plastic clips snap securely back together.
