   Power off the tablet

   Press and hold the power button on the top edge until the power-off prompt appears. Tap Power Off to shut down the device completely.

   Remove the microSD card

   Open the SD card slot cover on the side of the tablet. Press the microSD card inward until it clicks, then pull it out.

   Insert a plastic pick into the seam

   Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the display bezel and the plastic rear cover along the top edge.

   Unclip the rear cover perimeter

   Slide the opening pick slowly around all four edges of the tablet to release the plastic internal retention clips.

   Separate the rear cover

   Lift the rear cover straight up and off the tablet assembly. Set the back cover aside.

   Disconnect the battery plug

   Insert the flat end of a spudger under the battery connector harness on the motherboard. Pry straight up to disconnect power.

   Unscrew the battery bracket

   Use a Phillips PH00 screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the battery retaining frame to the chassis.

   Remove the battery

   Use a plastic opening tool to gently pry the battery off the adhesive backing inside the frame. Remove the battery from the tablet.

   Disconnect the display flex cable

   Use a spudger to flip up the small locking flap on the display ZIF connector. Slide the ribbon cable out of the socket.

    Disconnect the digitizer cable

    Flip open the locking lever on the digitizer ZIF connector nearby. Gently pull the touch panel ribbon cable out.

    Remove the motherboard screws

    Unscrew the Phillips PH00 screws securing the main circuit board to the tablet housing.

    Remove the motherboard

    Lift the motherboard carefully out of the plastic housing, taking care not to snag any remaining ribbon cables.

    Apply flux to the charging port pins

    Apply a generous amount of liquid or gel soldering flux over the five micro-USB pins and four mounting legs on the motherboard.

    Desolder the micro-USB port pins

    Place desoldering braid over the solder joints and heat with a soldering iron tip to pull old solder off the mounting anchors and pins.

    Remove the damaged charging port

    Gently hold the micro-USB port with fine-tip tweezers while applying heat across the anchor legs until the port frees from the board.

    Clean the motherboard pads

    Wipe the exposed contact pads on the motherboard using a lint-free swab dampened with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol.

    Solder the new charging port

    Align the replacement micro-USB port over the board pads, solder the anchor legs first, and carefully solder the five data/power pins.

    Reinstall the motherboard

    Lower the motherboard back into the chassis and replace the Phillips screws to secure it.

    Reconnect the flex cables

    Insert the display and digitizer ribbon cables back into their respective ZIF connectors and snap down the locking flaps.

    Reinstall and reconnect the battery

    Place the battery back into position, secure its bracket screws, and press the battery plug firmly into its motherboard socket.

    Snap the rear shell into place

    Align the back cover over the tablet frame and press around the perimeter until all plastic clips snap securely into position.
