Step-by-step
- 1
Heat the rear glass panel
2 minApply a heat gun or iOpener around the edges of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass cover and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide an opening pick into the gap between the glass cover and the aluminum frame.

Slice through the glass adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around all four sides of the phone to cut through the perimeter adhesive sealant.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable
2 minSlightly tilt the back glass up and use a spudger to detach the short fingerprint sensor connector near the camera.

Remove the rear glass cover
1 minLift the rear glass panel entirely away from the phone body.

Unscrew the wireless charging pad
3 minRemove the eleven Phillips #00 screws securing the upper midframe and wireless charging pad assembly.

Remove the wireless charging assembly
2 minPry up the top edge of the wireless charging frame with a spudger and remove it from the device.

Unscrew the loudspeaker module
2 minRemove the seven Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker housing to the frame.

Remove the loudspeaker
2 minInsert a spudger under the top lip of the loudspeaker module and pry it out of the chassis.

Disconnect the display and flex cables
2 minUse a spudger to detach the main ribbon interconnect cable press connector from the sub-board.

Disconnect the antenna cables
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently disconnect the blue and white coaxial antenna cables from the lower sub-board.

Unscrew the sub-board
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw holding the daughterboard to the bottom chassis.

Pry up the sub-board
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the sub-board and pry it out from the phone frame.

Transfer the microphone rubber gasket
2 minPeel the protective rubber microphone seal off the old microphone and seat it onto the replacement sub-board microphone.

Install the new microphone daughterboard
2 minPosition the new sub-board in the lower frame recess and secure it with the single Phillips #00 screw.

Reconnect the coaxial and ribbon cables
3 minSnap the antenna cables and main interconnect ribbon cable back onto their respective sub-board headers.

Reinstall the loudspeaker assembly
2 minSeat the loudspeaker housing into the frame and tighten the seven Phillips #00 screws.

Reinstall the wireless charging pad
3 minPress the wireless charging module back into place and fasten the eleven Phillips #00 screws.

Connect fingerprint sensor and seal rear cover
4 minReconnect the fingerprint cable, apply new perimeter adhesive, and press the rear glass firmly back onto the chassis.
