Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select the power off option on the screen. Ensure the device is completely shut down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the top edge of the device. Push firmly to pop out the tray and remove it.

Heat the rear glass
3 minApply heat to the edges of the rear glass using a heat gun set to low for about two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive securing the panel.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the rear glass panel. Press down firmly to create a tight seal.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap at the bottom seam. Slide a plastic opening pick into the gap.

Slice the edge adhesive
4 minSlide the opening pick around all four perimeter edges of the phone. Apply more heat if the adhesive feels resistant.

Remove the rear glass
1 minLift the rear glass panel off the chassis entirely. Set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the midframe fasteners
3 minRemove the twelve Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe and wireless charging coil to the frame.

Remove the wireless charging coil
2 minUse a plastic spudger to gently pry up and remove the top antenna cover and attached wireless charging assembly.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minPry up the lower speaker assembly from the bottom of the device using a spudger. Lift the module out of the chassis.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the daughterboard ribbons
2 minUnplug the display connector and the lower daughterboard ribbon cable attached to the motherboard.

Remove the motherboard
2 minGently tilt the top of the motherboard up and lift it clear of the frame. Store it on an anti-static mat.

Unseat the microphone assembly
3 minUse tweezers and a spudger to carefully unstick the primary microphone and daughterboard cable from the lower frame.

Install the new microphone daughterboard
3 minAlign the replacement microphone daughterboard into the bottom cavity of the frame and press it firmly into position.
