Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to ensure the device is fully shut down.

Eject the SIM and SD card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the right edge of the phone to pop out the tray. Pull the tray out completely and set it aside.

Heat the rear cover edges
3 minUse a heat gun or iOpener around the outer edges of the back cover for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the thick adhesive seal.

Slice the back cover adhesive
4 minInsert a thin opening pick under the back cover seam and carefully slide it along all four sides to separate the glue.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear cover straight up off the phone body once the adhesive is fully separated.

Unscrew the plastic midframe
3 minRemove the twelve Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe shield to the phone frame.

Detach the plastic midframe
2 minUse a plastic spudger to gently pry the midframe out of the phone chassis and lift it off.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off the logic board using the flat end of a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minUse a spudger to disconnect the display cable connector located near the middle-left side of the logic board.

Disconnect the front camera
1 minPry up the front-facing camera connector near the top edge of the board and remove the camera module.

Disconnect antenna and bottom board cables
2 minCarefully disconnect the coaxial antenna cables and the lower ribbon cable connector from the bottom of the logic board.

Unscrew the logic board retaining screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the top portion of the logic board to the internal chassis.

Remove the logic board
2 minGently lift the logic board from the top edge and angle it out of the device chassis completely.
