Heat the Display Edges
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the perimeter of the screen for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice the Display Adhesive
5 minInsert an opening pick under the top edge of the glass and slide it carefully around the borders to separate the glue.

Disconnect the Display Cable
2 minGently swing the top of the display up, then use a spudger to pop the main screen flex connector off the motherboard.

Remove the Display Assembly
1 minLift the display assembly away from the body completely and place it on a clean surface.

Remove the Midframe Screws
3 minUnscrew the ten Phillips #00 screws securing the internal midframe to the outer chassis.

Separate the Midframe
2 minPress firmly on the area inside the battery compartment to push the midframe out of the outer assembly.

Disconnect the USB Flex Cable
1 minUse a spudger to pry up the USB/microphone flex cable connector from the lower motherboard.

Remove the Old Microphone Board
2 minGently pry the bottom daughterboard containing the primary microphone out from the housing frame.

Install the New Microphone Board
2 minAlign the replacement microphone assembly into the bottom cavity and press firmly to seat it.
