Remove the rear cover
1 minGrasp the fingernail slot near the top of the phone and lift the plastic rear cover off the device.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your finger to lift the battery out of its recess from the bottom edge.

Remove the SIM and microSD cards
1 minPress and slide both the microSD card and micro-SIM card out of their metal tray slots.

Remove the home button access door
1 minPry open the small plastic cover located inside the battery compartment near the bottom right.

Disconnect the home button flex cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to disconnect the home button flex cable hidden beneath the small access door.

Heat the screen edges
3 minWarm the outer edges of the front glass with a heat gun or iOpener for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the upper portion of the display glass near the earpiece.

Slice the screen adhesive
3 minPull up on the suction cup and slide an opening pick around the perimeter to slice the screen adhesive.

Lift the display assembly
2 minCarefully tilt the top edge of the display assembly upward, taking care not to strain the bottom cables.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minPry up the display cable connector on the upper right side of the motherboard using a spudger.

Remove the display assembly
1 minLift the display completely off the chassis and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew the midframe
3 minRemove the ten Phillips #00 screws securing the midframe to the rear housing.

Separate the midframe from the chassis
2 minInsert a plastic pry tool between the outer plastic bezel and rear housing to pop the midframe free.

Disconnect the antenna cables
1 minUse tweezers to carefully pop the blue and red antenna coaxial connectors off the charging port board.

Disconnect the soft key flex cables
1 minUnclip the left and right soft-key capacitive ribbon cables from the charging port assembly.

Lift out the motherboard assembly
2 minGently lift the motherboard from the top edge and remove it along with the attached lower daughterboard.

Remove the old charging port assembly
2 minPeel the charging port board away from the adhesive securing it to the bottom frame.

Install the new charging port
2 minAlign the replacement charging port assembly into the bottom frame and press down to seal the adhesive.
