Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Disconnect any charging cables before proceeding.

Remove Back Cover
1 minInsert a spudger or fingernail into the notch at the top of the rear cover. Lift the cover away from the chassis to release the water-seal clips.

Remove Battery
1 minPry the battery upward from the recess at the bottom edge. Lift the battery out of the phone.

Remove MicroSD and SIM Cards
1 minPress the microSD and SIM cards inward to unlatch them if spring-loaded, or slide them directly out of their slots.

Pry Off Home Button Access Cover
2 minLocate the small plastic cover in the battery compartment near the bottom. Use tweezers or a spudger to pop open the rubberized cover.

Disconnect Home Button Cable
2 minUse a spudger to gently pry the home button ribbon cable straight up from its socket beneath the cover.

Heat Front Display Assembly
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the display for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the screen assembly. Pull up on the ring to create a small gap between the glass and frame.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam near the top earpiece speaker. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3 mm to avoid damaging display components.

Slice Screen Adhesive
5 minSlide the pick around the top and side edges of the display to slice through the adhesive seal.

Lift Display Top Edge
2 minCarefully pivot the top of the display assembly away from the phone body. Do not pull the screen off completely yet, as the ribbon cable is still attached.

Disconnect Display Cable
2 minUse a spudger to pry the display press connector straight up from the motherboard connector at the top right.

Remove Display Assembly
1 minLift the display assembly off the frame entirely and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew Midframe Screws
4 minRemove the ten Phillips #00 screws securing the midframe to the rear housing.

Separate Midframe from Housing
3 minPress down on the battery cavity area while pulling up on the edges of the midframe to release internal clips.

2 minUse precision tweezers to pry the blue and white coaxial antenna connectors straight up from the motherboard.

Unstick Port Assembly Adhesive
2 minApply a drop of isopropyl alcohol around the micro-USB port housing to soften the adhesive holding the port to the lower chassis.

Pry Out Charging Port Daughterboard
3 minUse a plastic opening tool to slide under the charging port assembly and gently pry it out of the lower frame.

Clean Frame Housing
2 minClean remaining adhesive and debris from the bottom port recess using a lint-free swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

Install New Charging Port
2 minAlign the replacement charging port assembly into the bottom chassis slot and press firmly into place.

Reinstall Motherboard
3 minLower the motherboard back into the chassis and reconnect the charging port daughterboard ribbon cable.

Secure Motherboard and Antennas
3 minReinstall the single Phillips screw into the motherboard and snap the two coaxial antenna cables onto their board sockets.

Reattach Midframe Assembly
4 minSnap the midframe back onto the rear housing and replace the ten Phillips screws along the perimeter.

Reconnect Display and Realign Screen
5 minConnect the display ribbon cable, apply new pre-cut adhesive strips around the frame, and press the screen firmly into the chassis.

Reconnect Home Button and Power On
