Power Off the Galaxy S4

Remove the Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the top edge to pry off the rear cover.

Remove the Battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic opening tool at the bottom recess to lift the battery out of the phone.

Remove SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minPush the microSD and SIM cards inward to release them, then slide both cards completely out of their slots.

Unscrew the Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the nine screws securing the plastic midframe to the display assembly.

Detach the Rear Midframe
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool between the chrome bezel and glass display to unclip the midframe around the perimeter.

Pry Out the Loudspeaker Assembly
2 minUse tweezers or a spudger to gently lift the loudspeaker module out from the lower portion of the midframe.

Install the Replacement Loudspeaker
2 minPosition the new loudspeaker module into the lower midframe cavity and press gently to seat it.

Snap Midframe into Place
2 minAlign the midframe over the rear of the phone and press firmly along the edges until all clips snap closed.

Fasten the Midframe Screws
3 minReinstall all nine Phillips #00 screws around the frame to secure the midframe in place.

Reinsert Cards and Battery
2 minSlide the SIM and microSD cards back into their slots, then press the battery back into its compartment.

Reattach Back Cover and Test Audio
2 minSnap the back cover into position and turn on the phone to verify sound output from the new speaker.
