Step-by-step

Power down the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device completely powers off before proceeding.

Remove the rear cover
1 minInsert a plastic prying tool or fingernail into the slot near the top left corner of the back cover. Gently pry the rear panel away from the housing.

Lift out the battery
1 minInsert a plastic tool into the recess at the bottom of the battery compartment. Lift the battery upward and remove it from the device.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
1 minPress the microSD and micro-SIM cards inward slightly until they click, then slide both cards out of their respective slots.

Unscrew the midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the nine screws securing the plastic midframe to the display assembly.

Pry off the midframe
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool between the plastic midframe and the front glass along the edge. Run the tool around the perimeter to release the plastic clips and lift off the frame.

Disconnect the main daughterboard connector
1 minUse a spudger to gently pry up the lower daughterboard ribbon cable connector from the motherboard.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minUse tweezers or a spudger to pry the coaxial antenna cable connector off its socket on the lower daughterboard.

Disconnect the soft key connectors
1 minGently pry up the capacitive touch button ribbon cable connector attached to the micro-USB and microphone daughterboard.

Remove the daughterboard screw
1 minUse your Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the single screw holding the micro-USB/microphone board to the frame.

Pry up the microphone daughterboard
2 minCarefully pry up the microphone and micro-USB assembly from the bottom of the phone frame using a flat spudger.

Install the new daughterboard
2 minPosition the new microphone daughterboard into the lower recess of the phone frame and press it down evenly.

Reconnect ribbon cables and antenna
2 minPress the soft key cable, main ribbon cable, and antenna cable straight down onto their sockets until they click securely.

Reattach and screw down midframe
3 minSnap the plastic midframe back onto the display assembly, then reinstall the nine Phillips #00 screws to secure it.

Reinstall battery and cover
2 minReinsert SIM and microSD cards, place the battery back in its recess, and press the rear cover back on until all edges snap into place.
