Step-by-step

Remove the Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the power button and gently pry the back cover off the device.

Remove the Battery
1 minUse your finger or a plastic opening tool to lift the battery out from the recess at the bottom of the compartment.

Remove the SIM and MicroSD Cards
2 minPress down slightly and slide out both the SIM card and MicroSD card from their respective slots.

Unscrew the Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the nine 4.0 mm screws securing the midframe to the display assembly.

Pry Off the Midframe
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool between the midframe and the front bezel along the edges to release the plastic clips.

Disconnect the Display Ribbon Cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the main display cable connector from the upper logic board.

Disconnect the Front Camera and Sensor Array
2 minCarefully detach the press-fit connectors for the front-facing camera assembly and the IR sensor cluster.

Disconnect the Headphone Jack Assembly
2 minPry up the small press-fit connector securing the headphone jack assembly to the top of the board.

Disconnect the Dock Connector Ribbon
2 minDisconnect the lower USB charging port ribbon connector located near the bottom right of the motherboard.

Disconnect the Antenna Cables
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the antenna cable coaxial connectors straight up off their sockets.

Remove the Logic Board Retaining Screw
2 minRemove the single 3.0 mm Phillips #00 screw securing the top right section of the logic board to the frame.

Lift Out the Logic Board
3 minGently pivot the top edge of the logic board away from the phone body and remove it completely.

Reflow or Repair Component Joints
10 minApply flux to damaged joints on the logic board and touch up connections using your soldering iron and desoldering braid.
