   Power Off the Phone

   Press and hold the Power button on the right side of the device. Tap Power Off on the screen and wait for the phone to shut down completely.

   Ground Yourself

   Attach an anti-static wrist strap to your wrist and clip it to a grounded metal surface. Work on a clean workspace mat to protect sensitive internal components.

   Locate the Back Cover Pry Notch

   Turn the phone face down. Locate the small indentation notch on the top left edge of the rear panel.

   Pry Open the Back Cover

   Insert a plastic opening tool into the pry notch. Gently twist to disengage the initial corner clips.

   Unclip the Rear Cover Edges

   Slide the plastic opening tool around the top and side seams of the rear panel. Release all plastic retention tabs holding the cover to the frame.

   Remove the Back Cover

   Lift the rear cover up and away from the phone body. Set the back cover aside in a safe spot.

   Remove the MicroSD Card

   Push the MicroSD card inward slightly until it clicks to release. Slide the card out of its slot completely using your thumb.

   Remove the SIM Card

   Press your thumb against the exposed edge of the SIM card. Slide the card straight out of its metal housing slot.

   Locate the Battery Removal Notch

   Find the small recess opening located near the top right edge of the battery bay.

    Pry Up the Old Battery

    Insert a spudger or plastic opening tool into the battery removal notch. Lever the top end of the battery upward away from the compartment.

    Remove the Battery

    Grasp the top edge of the battery and lift it out of the phone body. Place the degraded battery aside for safe disposal.

    Clean the Battery Terminal Pins

    Dampen a cotton swab with a small drop of isopropyl alcohol. Lightly clean the four copper spring pins in the battery housing.

    Inspect the Battery Compartment

    Check the battery bay for any dust, lint, or foreign particles. Wipe away any remaining residue with a dry microfiber cloth.

    Position the New Battery

    Unpack your new Galaxy S4 battery. Align the gold contact pads on the battery with the copper terminal pins inside the phone.

    Insert the New Battery

    Lower the contact edge of the new battery into the housing first. Press the lower half of the battery down firmly until it rests flush.

    Reinsert the SIM Card

    Slide the SIM card back into its lower metal slot with the gold contacts facing down. Push until it stops securely.

    Reinsert the MicroSD Card

    Push your MicroSD card into the upper slot until the internal spring mechanism clicks into place.

    Align the Rear Cover

    Place the rear cover onto the back of the device. Align the camera lens cutout with the rear camera module.

    Snap the Rear Cover Securely

    Pinch firmly around the outer edges of the phone. Continue pressing until every plastic tab snaps fully into the frame without gaps.
