Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Remove the battery cover
1 minPry open the battery hatch door on the side of the camera grip and slide the latch release.

Separate the rear casing
2 minCarefully lift the rear casing away from the internal assembly without snatching remaining cables.

Disconnect the primary microphone connector
2 minLocate the microphone flex cable connector near the bottom of the motherboard and pop it off with a spudger.

Extract the microphone module
3 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the microphone rubber boot and flex assembly out of its recess in the frame.

Install the new microphone
3 minAlign the replacement microphone inside the lower rubber boot and press it firmly into position.

Reconnect the microphone flex cable
2 minPress the microphone flex cable connector onto its motherboard socket until you hear a soft snap.

Reattach the shutter button flex
2 minPosition the rear casing near the frame and reconnect the shutter button press connector to the motherboard.

Snap the rear casing closed
3 minAlign the casing over the phone and press around the edges until all plastic tabs snap back into place.

Reinstall housing screws and covers
4 minDrive the ten Phillips #00 screws back into the housing and press the rubber screw covers back into place.

Reinsert battery and door
1 minSlide the battery into the compartment until the blue latch engages, then close and lock the battery door.
