Step-by-step

Power off the phone

Separate midframe from housing

Disconnect upper flex cables
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the display cable and the headphone jack flex cable from the motherboard.

Disconnect power button cable
2 minLocate the power button flex connector on the upper-right edge of the motherboard. Pry the connector straight up with a spudger.

Lift out motherboard
2 minGently pivot the motherboard up from the bottom edge and lift it out of the housing assembly.

Peel off power button flex assembly
2 minUse fine-tip tweezers to carefully peel the power button flex cable and switch off the inside frame notch.

Install replacement power button flex
3 minPeel the adhesive backing off the new power button flex cable. Align the tactile switch inside the frame slot and press it down securely.

Reinstall motherboard
2 minLower the motherboard back into the frame, ensuring no underlying flex cables are trapped beneath it.

Reconnect motherboard flex cables
2 minPress the power button, display, and headphone jack flex cable connectors firmly onto their motherboard sockets.

Snap midframe into place
2 minAlign the midframe over the front chassis and press firmly around all edges until it clicks back into position.

Secure midframe screws
3 minReinsert and tighten the ten Phillips #00 screws around the midframe until snug.

Reinstall cards and battery
2 minSlide the SIM and microSD cards back into their slots, insert the battery, and snap the rear cover back on.
