   Power off device

   Press and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Confirm the device is entirely shut down before proceeding.

   Remove rear cover

   Insert your thumbnail or a plastic opening tool into the notch at the top edge of the back panel. Pry the back cover off gently to release its clips.

   Extract battery

   Insert a spudger into the recess at the bottom edge of the battery cavity. Lift and remove the battery from the phone.

   Eject SIM and MicroSD cards

   Push the SIM card and MicroSD card inward slightly until they click, then pull both cards straight out of their slots.

   Unscrew rear midframe

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 12 visible screws securing the rear midframe assembly.

   Unclip midframe plastic housing

   Insert a plastic pry tool between the outer bezel and the midframe. Work around the perimeter to pop the plastic clips free, then lift off the midframe.

   Disconnect display flex cable

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the display press connector straight up from the motherboard.

   Disconnect digitizer flex cable

   Gently lift the digitizer press connector off its socket on the motherboard using a spudger.

   Disconnect front camera flex

   Pry up the front-facing camera connector from the top section of the main board.

    Disconnect earpiece and sensor connector

    Pop the earpiece speaker and proximity sensor assembly press connector off the motherboard.

    Disconnect lower USB dock cable

    Unplug the USB charging port ribbon cable from the bottom portion of the main board using a plastic spudger.

    Remove motherboard retention screw

    Remove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the top section of the motherboard to the frame.

    Remove motherboard

    Carefully lift the motherboard out from the chassis, making sure no ribbon cables get caught on the board during extraction.

    Heat display perimeter

    Apply heat to the outer edges of the screen using a heat gun set to low for about two minutes to soften the frame adhesive.

    Separate display glass from frame

    Attach a suction cup to the lower front glass and pull up while inserting an opening pick beneath the display assembly to slice through adhesive.

    Clean residual adhesive from frame

    Scrape away old adhesive strips and clean the inner bezel ledge thoroughly using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

    Apply new adhesive strips

    Line the perimeter of the internal frame with fresh double-sided display tape and remove the protective backing.

    Install replacement screen assembly

    Route the new screen display and digitizer cables through the frame slots, then press the assembly firmly into place along the edges.
