Step-by-step
- 1
Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Remove the rear cover
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the notch near the top edge of the back cover. Gently pry upwards to release the plastic clips and remove the cover.

Remove the battery
1 minInsert your fingernail or spudger into the recess at the bottom of the battery compartment. Lift the battery up and out of the phone.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide the micro-SIM card and microSD card out from their respective slots using your thumb.

5 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 12 visible screws securing the midframe to the phone body.

Pry off the midframe
4 minInsert a plastic spudger between the outer bezel and the display frame near the side volume buttons. Pop the clips along the perimeter to detach the rear midframe.

Disconnect the power button flex cable
2 minLocate the power button flex cable connector near the top right corner of the motherboard. Carefully pry the press connector straight up using a spudger.

Remove the damaged power button assembly
3 minUse precision tweezers to gently peel the adhesive switch module away from the interior side wall of the frame.

Position the new power button flex cable
3 minPeel the protective backing off the adhesive on the replacement flex cable. Align the power button switch into its designated slot against the side frame.

Connect the power button flex cable
2 minAlign the flex connector with its socket on the motherboard and press down gently until it snaps into place.

Reattach the midframe
3 minPlace the midframe back over the motherboard assembly and press down firmly along the edges until all clips engage.

Secure midframe screws
5 minReinstall the 12 Phillips #00 screws around the midframe to secure it firmly to the inner housing.

Reinstall battery and cards
2 minSlide the micro-SIM and microSD cards back into their slots, then reinsert the battery into its bay.

Snap on the back cover
2 minAlign the rear cover over the back of the phone and press around the perimeter until every locking tab snaps closed.
