Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Remove the rear cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the top edge of the back cover and pry it away from the chassis.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic opening tool at the bottom recess to lift the battery out of its compartment.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
1 minPress inward slightly on the SIM and microSD cards to unlatch them, then slide both cards out of their slots.

3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 12 screws securing the rear midframe to the display assembly.

Lift out the logic board
2 minCarefully grasp the logic board by the edges, lift it from the bottom up, and remove it from the frame housing.

Clean and reflow target components
12 minApply flux to damaged board joints and use a fine-tip soldering iron or desoldering braid under magnification to repair connections.

Reinstall the logic board
2 minLower the repaired logic board back into the housing, ensuring no underlying flex cables get trapped beneath it.

Fasten the board retaining screw
1 minReinsert and tighten the single Phillips #00 screw at the top of the logic board.
