Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to shut down the device completely.

Remove the rear cover
1 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the notch near the top edge and lift the back cover off.

Extract the battery
1 minUse a plastic spudger to lift the battery out of its recess from the bottom slot.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
1 minPress down slightly and slide out both the SIM card and the microSD card from their respective slots.

Unscrew the midframe

Warm the glass adhesive
2 minApply heat with a heat gun on low setting around the edges of the front glass for 90 seconds.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress the suction cup firmly onto the upper half of the display glass to secure a hold.

Pry assembly off frame
4 minPull up gently on the suction cup while running a plastic opening card along the seam to slice adhesive.

Apply replacement adhesive
3 minClean remaining glue from the frame with isopropyl alcohol, then lay down pre-cut double-sided adhesive strips.

Install new screen assembly
2 minThread the display cable through the frame slot and press the new screen firmly into the adhesive channel.
