Step-by-step

Power off and remove rear cover
1 minTurn off the device completely. Insert a plastic prying tool into the notch near the power button to detach and lift off the rear cover.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your fingertip or a spudger to lift the battery out from the recessed tab at the bottom.

Eject SIM and microSD cards
1 minPress inward on the microSD and SIM cards until they click, then pull them out of their respective slots.

Unscrew the midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 10 screws securing the plastic midframe to the display assembly.

Unsnap and remove midframe
2 minInsert a plastic pry tool between the midframe and front display bezel, sliding it around the perimeter to release the plastic clips.

Disconnect display and component connectors
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop up the display flex cable, front-facing camera, and headphone jack connectors from the motherboard.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minCarefully pry up the coaxial antenna cable connector located near the bottom left corner of the motherboard using tweezers or a spudger.

Disconnect the microphone flex cable
1 minLocate the microphone and daughterboard flex connector at the lower section of the main board and unsnap it gently.

Remove the motherboard screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips #00 screw securing the motherboard assembly to the frame chassis.

Lift out the motherboard
2 minGently pivot the top of the motherboard upward and remove it from the housing, setting it down on an anti-static mat.

Peel up the faulty microphone assembly
2 minUse fine tweezers to carefully lift the microphone unit and connected daughterboard flex cable out of the bottom enclosure.

Install the new microphone assembly
2 minPlace the replacement microphone flex assembly into the chassis recess and press down lightly to seat the adhesive.

Reinstall the motherboard
2 minLower the motherboard back into the front frame, making sure all ribbon cables remain resting above the board.

Secure the motherboard
1 minReinsert and tighten the single Phillips #00 screw to hold the motherboard securely in place.

Reconnect all ribbon cables and antenna
2 minPress down on the display, camera, microphone, and coaxial antenna connectors until they click firmly into their sockets.

Reattach the midframe
2 minAlign the plastic midframe over the assembly and press along the edges until all perimeter clips snap together.

Secure the midframe screws
3 minThread and tighten the 10 Phillips #00 screws back into the midframe.

Reinstall cards, battery, and rear cover
2 minSlide the SIM and microSD cards back into their slots, insert the battery, and snap the rear cover back onto the phone.
