Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down button simultaneously, then tap Power Off on the screen.

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the bottom edge of the phone to eject the SIM tray.

Heat the rear panel
3 minApply a heat gun set to low heat around the edges of the back glass for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Apply the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass and press down firmly to secure it.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert a plastic opening pick under the glass.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the waterproof adhesive tape.

Remove the rear glass
1 minLift the rear glass off the phone chassis and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the wireless coil assembly
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper wireless charging pad armor.

Disconnect the battery
1 minPry up the battery press connector from the motherboard using the flat end of a plastic spudger.

Unscrew the lower speaker box
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws holding the lower speaker enclosure over the sub-board module.

Remove the lower speaker box
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the speaker box and lift it out of the chassis.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cables
2 minUse a spudger to pop off the main interconnect flex cable connectors attached to the microphone sub-board.

Remove the microphone sub-board
2 minGently pry up the sub-board containing the primary microphone and lift it out of the lower recess using tweezers.

Install the replacement microphone board
3 minPosition the new primary microphone sub-board into the lower recess and press flex connectors firmly into place.
