Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the Side and Volume Down buttons, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before continuing.
- 2
Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole at the bottom edge of the frame. Push inward firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it clear of the device.
- 3
Heat the bottom edge of the back cover
2 minApply a heated pad or heat gun on low power (approx. 80°C / 176°F) to the bottom edge of the rear glass for 2 minutes. Heating softens the strong factory perimeter adhesive.
- 4
Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back cover, just above the USB-C port. Press down firmly to form a tight seal.
- 5
Create an initial entry gap
2 minPull up firmly on the suction handle to create a tiny gap between the back cover and the frame. Slide the thin point of an opening pick straight into the gap.
- 6
Slice the bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the opening pick along the bottom edge from corner to corner. Leave the pick under the edge to prevent the adhesive from re-bonding.
- 7
Slice the left edge adhesive
3 minHeat the left side of the back cover for 1 minute. Insert a second opening pick and slide it up the left edge, keeping the pick inserted no deeper than 4 mm.
- 8
Slice the top edge adhesive
2 minApply heat to the top edge for 1 minute. Guide an opening pick around the top corner and slice across the upper perimeter.
- 9
Slice the right edge adhesive
2 minHeat the right edge of the glass. Slide an opening pick down the right side to slice the remaining perimeter adhesive.
- 10
Lift and remove the back cover
1 minCarefully lift the back glass up and away from the phone body. Set the old glass panel aside.
- 11
Clean adhesive residue from the chassis
4 minDampen a microfibre cloth with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and wipe down the exposed frame perimeter. Use tweezers to scrape off any stubborn lingering adhesive strips.
- 12
Install the new back cover
3 minPeel away all protective film liners from the new rear panel's pre-applied adhesive. Line up the camera cutouts with the camera lenses, lower the glass into place, and press firmly along all edges.
