Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minPress and hold the Side and Volume Down buttons, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Heat bottom edge of back cover
2 minApply heat from a heat gun or hair dryer to the lower rear glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive underneath.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back cover near the USB-C port and press down firmly to secure a grip.

Insert opening pick
2 minPull upward on the suction cup to create a small gap between the glass and frame. Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap.

Slice bottom adhesive
2 minSlide the pick across the bottom edge of the device to sever the factory adhesive layer.

Slice left edge adhesive
3 minApply additional heat to the left edge, then slide your pick around the bottom-left corner and up to the top left.

Slice right edge adhesive
3 minHeat the right side of the back panel, then slide an opening pick along the right edge to separate the adhesive.

Slice top edge adhesive
3 minCarefully slide your pick across the top edge near the camera island, keeping the pick insertion depth shallow.

Remove rear glass
1 minGently lift the separated back cover off the chassis frame and set it aside.

Clean frame adhesive residue
4 minScrape away remaining glue using a spudger, then wipe the perimeter of the frame clean with isopropyl alcohol.

Prepare new back cover
1 minPeel off the protective plastic liner covering the adhesive backing on the replacement rear glass.

Install new back cover
2 minAlign the replacement glass precisely with the rear cameras and phone frame, then press firmly around all edges to seal.
