Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the Side and Volume Down buttons simultaneously, then tap Power Off on the screen. Disconnect any attached cables before proceeding.
- 2
Heat Lower Edge
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the bottom edge of the back glass for 2 minutes. Keep the temperature around 80°C (176°F) to soften the perimeter adhesive.
- 3
Attach Suction Handle
1 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower third of the back cover, near the USB-C port. Press down firmly to create a tight seal.
- 4
Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull up on the suction handle to create a small gap between the glass and the frame. Slide the tip of an opening pick into the gap.
- 5
Slice Bottom Adhesive
2 minSlide the pick back and forth along the bottom edge of the device to cut through the adhesive. Leave the pick under the bottom edge to prevent re-sealing.
- 6
Heat Left Edge
2 minApply heat along the left edge of the back cover for 90 seconds to soften the adhesive band.
- 7
Slice Left Edge Adhesive
2 minInsert a second opening pick at the bottom-left corner and slide it up to the top corner. Do not insert the pick deeper than 5mm to avoid damaging internal ribbons.
- 8
Heat Right Edge
2 minWarm the right edge of the rear glass with your heat source for 90 seconds.
- 9
Slice Right Edge Adhesive
2 minSlide an opening pick up the right side of the device to sever the remaining side adhesive.
- 10
Heat Top Edge
2 minApply heat across the top edge and camera module area for 2 minutes to loosen the thick upper adhesive.
- 11
Separate Rear Glass
2 minCarefully slice through the top edge adhesive with a pick, then lift the back cover completely off the phone body.
- 12
Clean Frame Residue
4 minApply high-concentration isopropyl alcohol to the frame edges and use a spudger to scrape off all old adhesive residue.
- 13
Apply New Adhesive
3 minPeel the protective film from your custom pre-cut back cover adhesive and align it onto the midframe. Press firmly along the perimeter to adhere.
- 14
Install New Back Cover
2 minPeel off the remaining adhesive backing film, align the replacement rear glass over the camera lenses, and press firmly along all edges.
