Step-by-step

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the bottom frame to pop out the SIM tray. Remove the tray entirely before opening the device.

Heat Back Cover
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on medium power to warm the outer edges of the rear glass for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the perimeter adhesive holding the back panel.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minSecure a suction cup tool near the bottom edge of the back glass. Pull upward firmly to create a small gap between the glass and the phone frame.

Slice Bottom Adhesive
2 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick across the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive.

Slice Perimeter Adhesive
3 minSlide additional opening picks along the left, right, and top edges of the device. Keep the picks inserted flat to avoid slicing internal flex cables.

Remove Back Panel
1 minGently lift the back glass panel straight off the frame once all adhesive bonds are sliced. Place the panel on a clean surface.

Unscrew Upper Bracket
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the wireless charging coil and motherboard cover. Keep these screws organized for proper reassembly.

Remove Charging Coil

1 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw securing the daughterboard to the bottom chassis.

Remove Sub-Board Assembly
2 minGently lever up the edge of the sub-board using a spudger and remove it. The primary microphone is integrated directly onto this component.

Install Replacement Sub-Board
3 minPlace the new microphone-equipped sub-board into the lower recess and press lightly until it snaps flush. Reconnect all flex cables and reassemble the device.
