Step-by-step

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the hole next to the charging port. Press inward firmly to pop out the tray and remove it.

Remove the S Pen
1 minPush the S Pen cap until it clicks, then pull the stylus out of its housing slot.

Heat the rear glass
3 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the back panel edges for 2-3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear panel and gently pull upward to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass panel and the metal frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the back panel to cut through the remaining adhesive.

Lift off the rear glass
1 minCarefully lift the rear glass panel away from the chassis and set it face down on a clean surface.

Unscrew the motherboard cover
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the top cover and wireless charging assembly.

Disconnect the wireless charging pad

2 minRemove the Phillips screws securing the lower speaker enclosure at the bottom of the device.

2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the speaker module and lift it up out of the housing.

Disconnect interconnect flex cables
2 minUse a spudger to detach the main display and interconnect flex connectors from the sub-board.

Disconnect antenna coaxial cables
2 minCarefully pry up the small coaxial antenna connectors from the charging port sub-board using tweezers.

Unscrew the charging port board
2 minRemove the Phillips screws retaining the sub-board to the frame.

Remove the old charging port board
2 minPry up the damaged charging port sub-board using a plastic tool and lift it out of the chassis.

Install the new sub-board
2 minPosition the new charging port sub-board into the lower housing slot and press it down until seated flush.

Secure the replacement sub-board
2 minTighten the Phillips screws to firmly lock the new charging port board into place.

Reconnect flex and antenna cables
3 minSnap the main interconnect flex cables and antenna coaxial cables securely back onto the sub-board.
