Step-by-step

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the bottom of the phone. Push firmly straight in to pop out the tray and set it aside.

Heat the rear glass panel
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to heat the outer edges of the rear glass for 2 minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the panel.

Apply suction cup to back panel
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear glass near the USB-C port. Pull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap between the glass and frame.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick along all four edges to slice through the adhesive.

Remove the rear glass cover
1 minGently lift the rear glass away from the frame once all edges are completely freed. Set the glass aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the wireless charging coil bracket
3 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the upper wireless charging coil and NFC antenna assembly to the chassis. Keep these screws organized.

Peel off the wireless charging coil
2 minUse a plastic spudger to gently lift the wireless charging pad and NFC module. Carefully peel it away from the frame and remove it.

Unscrew the upper motherboard cover
2 minLocate and remove the remaining Phillips #000 screws holding down the motherboard protective bracket. Store them with the wireless coil screws.

Remove the motherboard protective cover
1 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the plastic bracket edge. Lift and remove the motherboard cover from the device frame.

Disconnect the battery connector
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Disconnecting power prevents short circuits.

Disconnect display and main flex cables
3 minUnplug the display flex cable, interconnect ribbon cables, and antenna connectors from the logic board using the flat end of a spudger.

Disconnect the front camera
1 minPry the front-facing camera connector straight up off the motherboard socket using your spudger. Carefully bend the connector clear of the board.

Unscrew the motherboard retaining screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw securing the main logic board directly to the aluminum frame chassis.

Remove the logic board
2 minCarefully insert a spudger beneath the bottom edge of the motherboard. Pry gently and lift the logic board out of the phone frame.

Seat the new logic board
2 minAlign the replacement logic board into the frame chassis. Press down gently until it sits completely flush without pinching any flex cables.
