Step-by-step

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the bottom frame edge next to the tray. Press firmly to pop the tray out, then remove it completely.

Heat Rear Cover
3 minApply heat to the outer edges of the plastic back cover using a heat gun or hairdryer for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
5 minAttach a suction cup to the lower rear panel and pull up to create a gap. Insert an opening pick and slide it around the perimeter to cut the adhesive.

Remove Rear Panel
2 minGently lift the plastic rear panel away from the frame and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew Wireless Coil Assembly
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper midframe and attached wireless charging pad.

2 minPry up the edges of the upper midframe using a plastic spudger and lift the assembly off the phone.

Disconnect Battery Flex Cable
1 minUse the pointed end of a spudger to pop the battery flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

2 minRemove all Phillips screws holding the loudspeaker enclosure at the bottom of the device.

2 minInsert a spudger under the notch of the loudspeaker housing and pry it up from the chassis.

Disconnect Display and Interconnect Flex Cables
3 minPry up the display connector and both main interconnect ribbon cables from the motherboard and sub-board.

Unscrew Motherboard
2 minRemove the single Phillips screw holding the main circuit board to the internal frame.

Extract Mainboard Assembly

Transfer Small Parts to New Frame Assembly
4 minPress the earpiece speaker and vibration motor into their corresponding slots on the replacement screen assembly frame.

Secure Circuit Boards
4 minSeat the sub-board and mainboard into the new screen frame and secure them with their Phillips screws.

Mount Battery and Connect Ribbon Cables
4 minApply fresh adhesive tape to the battery well, place the battery into position, and snap all display and interconnect flex cables into place.
