Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone

- 2
Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole next to the SIM tray at the bottom edge. Push inward to pop out the tray and set it aside.
- 3
Heat the back cover
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun along the perimeter of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the strong adhesive holding the plastic back panel.
- 4
Attach a suction handle
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Press down firmly to create a seal and pull upward to form a small gap.
- 5
Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minInsert an opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide the pick around all four edges to slice through the adhesive layer.
- 6
Remove the back panel
2 minLift the rear plastic panel off the chassis carefully. Set it face down on a clean surface to prevent dust from accumulating on the adhesive.
- 7
Unscrew the top motherboard bracket
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 15 screws securing the upper motherboard cover and wireless charging coil.
- 8
Detach the wireless charging coil
2 minUse tweezers or a spudger to gently pry up the wireless charging pad and upper bracket assembly, then lift it away from the frame.
- 9
Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
3 minRemove the 7 Phillips #00 screws holding the lower speaker module in place over the sub-board.
- 10
Pry out the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a spudger into the pry notch on the corner of the loudspeaker housing. Lift the speaker module out and set it aside.
- 11
Disconnect the flex cables
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to snap off the display flex cable and main interconnect flex cable connectors from the daughterboard.
- 12
Remove the sub-board retaining screw
1 minLocate and remove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the microphone daughterboard to the lower aluminum frame.
- 13
Remove the microphone daughterboard
2 minGently pry underneath the sub-board with a spudger to free it from the lower housing. Swap in the replacement board containing the primary microphone.
