Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the side button and volume down key, then select Power Off. Ensure the device is fully powered down before continuing.

Heat the rear glass panel
2 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear glass using a heat gun for two minutes. This softens the perimeter adhesive holding the back cover.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Press down firmly and pull upward to create a slight gap in the frame seam.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slice through the bottom adhesive seal.

Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minMove the pick around the remaining edges of the device to cut through all back glass adhesive. Keep the pick depth shallow to prevent internal damage.

Remove the back glass
1 minLift the rear glass cover straight off the chassis. Place it on a clean workspace out of the way.

Unscrew the upper motherboard shield
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the five screws securing the upper motherboard cover and wireless charging pad.

Remove the wireless charging coil
2 minUnclip the top edge of the wireless charging assembly and gently peel it away from the battery and motherboard.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from the mainboard socket.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
2 minRemove the five Phillips #000 screws securing the lower speaker enclosure to the bottom frame.

1 minLever the plastic speaker assembly up using a spudger and lift it out of the phone body.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex
1 minUse precision tweezers to lift the press connector of the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable from the daughterboard.

Warm the lower display frame
1 minWarm the lower section of the front screen for 30 seconds with a heat gun to loosen the adhesive securing the sensor underneath.

Remove the faulty fingerprint sensor
2 minSlide the edge of a flat plastic tool under the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor module and carefully separate it from the chassis.

Install the new fingerprint sensor
2 minPeel any protective film from the new sensor, position it inside the lower housing, and press firmly to set the adhesive.
