Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button on the right edge, then select Power Off on the screen. Confirm the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove the back cover
1 minInsert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the notch near the top speaker grille. Pry the rear cover up and remove it from the device.

Remove the battery
1 minPry the battery upward from the recess at the bottom edge of the battery compartment. Lift the battery out and set it aside.

Remove the SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide the microSD card and SIM card out of their respective metal slots using your thumb or tweezers.

Disconnect the lower daughterboard flex cable
2 minPop the micro-USB charging port and home button ribbon cable connector off the lower corner of the motherboard.

Remove the motherboard screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the logic board to the inner frame.

Remove the motherboard
2 minCarefully lift the motherboard out from the chassis, starting from the top edge. Place it safely on an anti-static surface.

Remove the earpiece speaker and sensor assembly
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the earpiece speaker and proximity sensor cable out of their recessed frame housing.

Remove the vibration motor
2 minPry the circular vibration motor out of its recess using tweezers to release the light adhesive backing.

Heat the front screen assembly
3 minApply heat evenly across the glass screen for 2 to 3 minutes using a heat gun or hairdryer on low setting to soften adhesive.

Separate the screen from the frame
5 minPress a suction cup onto the front glass, lift gently, and slide an opening pick between the display bezel and frame to slice the adhesive.

Remove the screen assembly
2 minPull the cracked screen panel away from the chassis while carefully guiding its ribbon cables through the frame slot.

Clean old adhesive from frame
4 minScrape remaining adhesive residue off the inner bezel using a spudger, then clean the perimeter with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new adhesive strips
4 minCut and place double-sided adhesive strips along all four edge borders of the interior frame.

3 minThread the display ribbon cable through the frame slot and press the new screen firmly into place against the adhesive.

Reinstall internal components

2 minLower the motherboard into the chassis, ensuring ribbon cables remain accessible on top and are not trapped underneath.

Attach the rear midframe
