Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button on the right edge, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is entirely shut down before proceeding.

Remove the back cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the top speaker. Carefully pry upward to release the clips and remove the cover.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your fingertip or a plastic tool to lift the battery from the recess at the bottom edge. Set the battery aside safely.

Remove the SIM and microSD cards
1 minPress down slightly and slide out both the SIM card and microSD card from their respective metal slots.

Unscrew the rear housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the plastic rear inner housing to the frame.

Unclip the inner housing
3 minInsert a plastic spudger into the seam between the front frame and the inner housing. Slide around the perimeter to release all plastic clips.

Lift away the rear housing frame
1 minGently pull the inner housing away from the phone body. Put it aside in a clean area.

Disconnect the lower flex cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the bottom flex cable connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minUse tweezers or a spudger to pop the coaxial antenna cable off its metal connector on the lower daughterboard.

Remove the lower assembly screw
2 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw holding the lower charging port and microphone board to the frame.

Pry up the old microphone assembly
3 minCarefully insert a plastic opening tool under the lower flex board to break the adhesive beneath the microphone and USB port.

Position the new microphone flex assembly
2 minAlign the replacement flex assembly over the frame guide pins and press it down firmly to seat the microphone.

Secure the lower board screw
1 minReinstall and tighten the single Phillips #00 screw to hold the new lower daughterboard in place.

Attach the antenna cable
2 minAlign the coaxial antenna head directly over its connector on the lower board and press gently until it snaps into place.

Connect the main flex cable
1 minAlign the lower flex press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it clicks.

Snap the rear inner housing into place
2 minPlace the rear housing onto the phone and press firmly along the edges until all plastic clips snap securely shut.

Reinstall housing screws
3 minInsert and tighten the seven Phillips #00 screws around the perimeter of the inner housing.

Reinsert cards and battery
2 minSlide the SIM and microSD cards back into their slots, then align and seat the battery.

Reattach the back cover
1 minAlign the rear cover over the device and press firmly around all edges until it snaps flush against the body.
