Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the side of the phone. Press firmly straight in to pop out the tray and remove it.

Heat the Rear Glass
2 minApply heat from a heat gun or hair dryer along all four outer edges of the rear panel for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Apply Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the lower bottom edge of the back panel. Pull up firmly to create a tiny gap between the glass and the plastic frame.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minInsert a thin plastic prying pick into the gap opened by the suction cup. Gently slide it along the bottom edge to slice the adhesive seal.

Slice Rear Adhesive
3 minWork the opening pick around the side and top perimeter of the phone. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal components.

Remove Back Cover
1 minLift the rear glass cover completely off the frame. Set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew Speaker Cover
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all securing screws holding down the lower plastic speaker assembly.

Pry Off Speaker Housing
1 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the edge of the lower speaker assembly. Gently lever it upward to unclip and remove the housing.

Disconnect Battery Cable

Disconnect Sub-Board Flex Cables
2 minDisconnect both the main interconnect flex cable and the display flex cable from the lower sub-board using your spudger.

Disconnect Antenna Cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to pry up the gold coaxial antenna cable connectors straight off their sub-board terminals.

Remove Sub-Board Screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips #000 screw that anchors the lower sub-board to the frame.

Lift Out Sub-Board
2 minPry gently underneath the sub-board using a spudger and lift it out of the chassis. This board contains the primary microphone component.

Transfer Gasket Seal
1 minUse tweezers to peel the small rubber microphone gasket from the old sub-board and seat it on the replacement sub-board.

Install New Sub-Board
2 minPosition the new sub-board into the lower cavity of the frame and press down firmly until it rests flat.

Reattach Antenna and Flex Cables
3 minSnap the coaxial antenna connectors and main flex cables back onto their corresponding sub-board sockets.

Reinstall Speaker and Battery Cable
2 minReconnect the battery cable, place the lower speaker cover into position, and reinstall all Phillips screws.

Reseal Rear Panel
