   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the frame to pop out the SIM tray. Remove the tray completely from the device.

   Heat the rear cover

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive. Ensure the cover is warm to the touch but not uncomfortably hot.

   Apply suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear panel and pull upward firmly to create a small gap. Insert the tip of an opening pick into the seam.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the adhesive layer. Reheat the panel if the pick meets heavy resistance.

   Lift away rear cover

   Carefully lift the rear panel off the phone frame and place it aside. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean old adhesive remnants from the frame.

   Unscrew midframe screws

   Remove the 15 Phillips #00 screws securing the upper midframe cover and lower speaker module to the frame. Keep the screws organized for reassembly.

   Pry off upper midframe

   Insert the flat end of a spudger under the top midframe housing and unclip it from the chassis. Lift the upper midframe away from the device.

   Disconnect the battery

   Use the spudger to pry the battery cable connector straight up off the motherboard. Disconnecting power prevents short circuits while replacing internal components.

   Remove speaker housing

   Pry the lower speaker module up and out of the bottom of the frame. Set the speaker housing aside to expose the sub-board and sensor flex.

    Disconnect fingerprint sensor flex

    Locate the optical fingerprint sensor connector on the sub-board near the bottom of the phone. Pry the flex cable connector straight up with a spudger to disconnect it.

    Remove sensor bracket screw

    Unscrew the single Phillips screw holding the metal fingerprint sensor retention bracket in place. Remove the bracket with tweezers.

    Extract old fingerprint sensor

    Gently pry the optical sensor module out of its recessed slot in the lower display frame using tweezers. Avoid touching the optical lens underneath.

    Install new fingerprint sensor

    Place the replacement fingerprint sensor into the frame cutout, facing down toward the screen surface. Ensure the alignment pegs seat flush into the housing.

    Secure retaining bracket

    Position the metal bracket back over the sensor module. Reinstall and tighten the Phillips screw to hold the sensor in position.

    Reconnect flex cables

    Press the fingerprint sensor flex connector onto the sub-board socket until it clicks. Reconnect the main battery flex cable to the motherboard socket.

    Reinstall midframe and rear panel

    Snap the lower speaker housing and upper midframe back into place, then reinstall all 15 Phillips screws. Apply new pre-cut adhesive strips and press the rear cover down firmly.
