   Eject the S Pen and SIM tray

   Press the S Pen to pop it out and remove it from the housing slot. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole at the top edge to remove the SIM and microSD card tray.

   Heat the back glass

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the edges of the back cover for three minutes to soften the factory adhesive.

   Slice the rear adhesive

   Attach a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull up gently, and insert an opening pick beneath the glass. Carefully slice along all edges to separate the adhesive.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

   Slightly lift the back cover from the right edge like a book. Use a spudger to detach the short fingerprint sensor flex cable from the motherboard before completely removing the rear glass.

   Unscrew the upper midframe

   Remove the eleven Phillips #00 screws securing the upper motherboard shield and wireless charging assembly.

   Remove the wireless charging coil

   Pry up the right edge of the wireless charging assembly and unclip it from the frame.

   Disconnect the battery flex cable

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket to prevent electrical shorts.

   Unscrew and remove the lower speaker

   Remove the five Phillips #00 screws holding the loudspeaker assembly in place and lift it out of the bottom chassis.

   Disconnect all motherboard flex cables

   Use a spudger to disconnect the display, front camera, iris scanner, headphone jack, and lower charging board flex cables from the main board.

    Remove the main logic board

    Remove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the logic board near the top, then carefully lift the board out of the phone body.

    Inspect for liquid damage and corrosion

    Examine the board under a magnifying lamp for white or green mineral deposits, residue, and corroded trace lines.

    Submerge the motherboard in isopropyl alcohol

    Place the logic board into a shallow container filled with 99% isopropyl alcohol to displace trapped moisture.

    Scrub affected connectors with a soft brush

    Gently scrub corrosion and mineral buildup off the board, surface components, and connector pins using a soft-bristled antistatic brush.

    Dry the motherboard completely

    Blow away excess alcohol with light air pressure and allow the board to dry thoroughly in a warm, well-ventilated area for at least two hours.

    Reinstall the motherboard and reconnect components

    Place the dry motherboard back into the frame, secure its retaining screw, and press all flex cables except the battery firmly into their sockets.
