Safety
- Wear eye protection when working with glass and heated adhesive.

Step-by-step

Eject SIM tray and S-Pen
2 minPower down your Galaxy Note 9 completely. Use a SIM eject tool to remove the SIM card tray, then press and release to eject the S-Pen.

Heat rear glass panel
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Slice back cover adhesive
5 minAttach a suction handle near the bottom edge and pull up to create a gap. Insert an opening pick and slice through the adhesive around all four edges.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly lift the glass cover from the right edge. Use a spudger to disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable before fully removing the rear panel.

Unscrew wireless charging pad
3 minRemove the eleven Phillips screws securing the upper midframe and wireless charging coil assembly.

Remove wireless charging assembly
2 minPry up the edges of the plastic midframe using a spudger and remove the wireless charging pad.

Remove loudspeaker module
3 minRemove the five Phillips screws holding the lower loudspeaker housing, then pry and lift the speaker module out.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to snap the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard.

Disconnect daughterboard cables
3 minDisconnect the main interconnect ribbon cables and blue/white coaxial antenna cables connected to the lower daughterboard assembly.

Unscrew microphone daughterboard
2 minRemove the three Phillips screws securing the primary microphone and USB-C port daughterboard to the chassis.

Extract old microphone board
2 minInsert a plastic spudger underneath the daughterboard and gently pry it out of the lower frame housing.

Install new microphone assembly
3 minPosition the new daughterboard into the frame recess, align the primary microphone port, press down firmly, and secure it with the retained screws.
