Step-by-step

Remove the SIM tray and S Pen
1 minEject the SIM card and microSD tray from the top of the phone. Press and release the S Pen to slide it out from the bottom slot.

Heat the rear glass panel
3 minApply heat around all four edges of the back cover for 2 to 3 minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer. This softens the factory adhesive holding the glass.

Attach suction cup to rear glass
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the rear glass near the bottom edge. Pull up firmly to create a small gap between the glass and frame.

Slice through the rear glass adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slowly slide it around the perimeter. Apply additional heat if you encounter strong resistance.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor ribbon
2 minSlightly lift the rear glass from the right side without straining the fingerprint sensor cable. Use a spudger to detach the sensor connector before completely removing the glass.

Unscrew the wireless charging coil
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the 10 screws securing the upper midframe and wireless charging coil assembly.

Remove the wireless charging antenna assembly
2 minGently pry up the top edge of the wireless charging assembly using a spudger. Lift the module off the chassis and set it aside.

Unscrew the loudspeaker module
2 minRemove the 5 Phillips #000 screws holding down the lower loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device.

Lift out the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert your spudger under the notch of the loudspeaker housing and pry it upward. Remove the speaker module to access the lower sub-board.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard. This prevents electrical shorts during repair.

Disconnect the sub-board interconnect cables
2 minDisconnect the main ribbon cable press connector bridging the motherboard and the lower daughterboard.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cables
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the white and blue antenna coaxial connectors straight up from the bottom sub-board.

Unscrew the sub-board assembly
2 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw securing the USB-C and microphone daughterboard to the phone frame.

Remove the sub-board with primary microphone
2 minPry up the edge of the sub-board gently with a plastic spudger. Lift out the daughterboard containing the damaged primary microphone.

Install the new microphone sub-board
2 minAlign the replacement sub-board into the lower housing slot and press it down into place. Reinstall the retaining screw to secure it.
