Step-by-step

Remove S-Pen stylus
1 minPress the S-Pen top to pop it out from the bottom slot of the phone. Slide the S-Pen entirely out of the frame.

Eject SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole on the top edge of the device. Firmly press to pop out the tray and remove it.

Heat rear glass panel
3 minUse a heat gun or hairdryer on medium heat to warm the edges of the back panel for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive securing the rear cover.

Attach suction cup to rear cover
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass. Pull upward gently to create a small gap between the glass and metal frame.

Slice rear panel adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Carefully slide the pick along all four edges to cut through the adhesive.

Remove rear glass cover
1 minLift the rear glass cover away from the chassis once all adhesive is sliced. Set the glass panel aside in a safe location.

Remove midframe Phillips screws
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 20 screws securing the plastic midframe to the phone chassis.

Separate midframe assembly
3 minGently push on the center section where the battery sits while gripping the outer plastic midframe. Unclip and remove the midframe from the front assembly.

Disconnect battery connector
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex cable connector straight up from the motherboard.

Disconnect display flex connector
1 minLocate the display cable near the top right of the motherboard. Use a plastic spudger to detach its press connector.

Disconnect home button and sensor flexes
2 minDisconnect the home button flex connector and capacitive key ribbon cables located at the bottom of the main board.

Heat front display panel
3 minApply heat evenly across the front glass panel using a heat gun for two to three minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Insert pick behind front screen
2 minPlace a suction cup on the front glass and pull up to create a seam. Insert an opening pick under the edge of the glass.

Slice screen perimeter adhesive
5 minSlowly slide the opening pick around the entire outer perimeter of the glass to separate it from the frame. Take extra care near the soft key ribbons at the bottom.

Remove old display assembly
2 minThread the display flex cables carefully through the frame cutouts as you lift the damaged screen assembly off the chassis.

Clean frame of old adhesive
4 minScrape away remaining glue from the display frame using tweezers and isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth.

Apply custom display adhesive
3 minPeel the backing from the pre-cut display adhesive strips and lay them precisely onto the outer perimeter of the metal frame.

Feed new display cables through frame
2 minGuide the ribbon cables of the new screen assembly carefully through the corresponding slots in the front chassis.

Press new display assembly into frame
2 minAlign the screen panel accurately over the frame and press firmly around all edges to bond the adhesive.

Reconnect screen flex cables
2 minSnap the display cable connector and home button flex cables securely onto their motherboard sockets.

Reconnect battery connector
1 minPress the battery cable connector straight down onto the motherboard until it clicks into place.

Reinstall midframe and screws
4 minPosition the midframe over the motherboard assembly and press it down to engage the side clips. Fasten all 20 Phillips #00 screws.

Apply back glass adhesive
2 minPlace new pre-cut rear adhesive strips around the rim of the back frame and peel away the protective film.

Secure rear glass panel
2 minAlign the rear glass cover with the camera lens cutout and press firmly along the edges to seal the device.
