Step-by-step

Eject SIM Tray and S Pen
2 minInsert a SIM ejection tool into the tray hole to release the tray. Press down on the top of the S Pen and slide it completely out of the phone.

Heat the Back Glass
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on medium power to heat the rear perimeter for 2 minutes, softening the strong adhesive.

Attach Suction Handle
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower back glass surface and pull upward to create a slim gap between the glass and frame.

Slice Back Glass Adhesive
4 minInsert a thin plastic pick into the gap and slowly slice around the perimeter to cut through the double-sided tape.

Lift Off the Back Glass
1 minCarefully lift the rear glass panel clear from the frame and place it aside.

Unscrew the Midframe
4 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to unbolt all twenty 3.0 mm screws securing the midframe to the display assembly.

Separate Midframe from Front Assembly
3 minApply gentle downward pressure on the battery while pulling up the outer midframe edges to unclip it.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up off the motherboard.

Disconnect Motherboard Flex Cables
3 minDisconnect the display, front-facing camera, earpiece, and home button press connectors from the board.

Remove the Motherboard
2 minGently pivot the bottom edge of the motherboard up and lift it away from the housing.

Peel Up Power Button Flex
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently pry the power button contact ribbon and tactile switch off the inner sidewall.

Remove Physical Power Key
1 minPush the external power button actuator key inward from outside the frame using a spudger.

Install New Power Button Assembly
2 minSeat the mechanical button button into the housing slot and press the new flex cable adhesive onto the frame.
