Step-by-step

Eject the S-Pen
1 minPress the end of the S-Pen until it clicks, then slide it out completely from the bottom slot.

Remove the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the top tray hole to release and remove the SIM card holder.

Heat the Back Glass
3 minApply heat evenly around the perimeter of the back glass panel with a heat gun for 2 minutes to soften the glue.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPress the suction cup firmly near the bottom edge of the back glass.

Slice the Perimeter Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a plastic prying pick to slice through the adhesive around all four sides.

Remove the Back Glass

4 minRemove the twenty Phillips #00 screws holding the aluminum midframe to the display assembly.

Separate the Midframe
3 minGently push on the battery through the rear frame cutout while pulling up on the outer edges to pop the midframe off.

1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to snap the battery press connector off the motherboard.

3 minUnplug the display cable, touch panel flex, and front camera press connectors from the top and middle of the motherboard.

Remove the Motherboard
2 minCarefully lift the motherboard up from the top side and remove it from the device chassis.

Apply Flux to Port Contacts
2 minApply a small dab of solder flux to the power, data pins, and mounting anchor feet of the charging port.

Desolder the Faulty Port
6 minHeat each anchor leg and data pin with the soldering iron using desoldering braid to remove all existing solder, then lift off the broken port.

Clean Circuit Board Pads
2 minWipe the gold connection pads clean using a cotton swab moistened with 99% isopropyl alcohol.

Solder the New Charging Port
6 minAlign the new micro-USB port on the pads and solder all mounting legs and signal pins securely.

Reassemble Board and Frame
5 minSeat the motherboard, reconnect all flex cables, fasten the midframe screws, and apply new adhesive to secure the back glass.
