Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before continuing.

Remove the S Pen
1 minPress the end of the S Pen to disengage the latch. Pull the stylus straight out of the slot and set it aside.

Pry off the back cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the power button. Gently pry around the perimeter to unclip and remove the rear cover.

Remove the battery
1 minLift the battery out from the recess at the bottom of the battery compartment. Set the battery aside on a clean surface.

Remove the SIM card
1 minPress the SIM card inward until it clicks, then release it. Slide the card out of its tray.

Remove the microSD card
1 minPush the microSD card inward to disengage the spring mechanism. Pull the card out of the slot.

Unscrew the midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 16 screws securing the midframe to the display assembly. Place the screws in a secure tray.

Separate the midframe
4 minInsert a plastic prying tool between the midframe and display assembly inside the battery cavity. Work your way around the edges to release the perimeter clips.

Unclip the loudspeaker module
2 minLocate the loudspeaker assembly in the bottom corner of the midframe. Use a spudger to pry up the module edges from the midframe frame.

Remove the defective speaker
2 minUse tweezers to lift the speaker module out of the midframe housing. Remove any leftover adhesive or debris from the speaker cavity.

Install the new speaker module
2 minPosition the new loudspeaker module into the midframe slot. Press down firmly to seat the contact pads properly.

Reattach the midframe
3 minAlign the midframe over the rear of the display assembly. Press firmly around all sides until the plastic clips snap into place.

Reinstall midframe screws
3 minInsert and tighten the 16 Phillips #00 screws into the midframe. Tighten until snug, taking care not to strip the plastic housing.

Reinsert SIM and microSD cards
1 minPush the SIM card into its slot until it locks. Insert the microSD card until it clicks into place.

Reinstall the battery
1 minAlign the battery's gold contacts with the pins inside the battery bay. Push the battery down flat into place.

Reattach back cover and S Pen
1 minSnap the rear cover back onto the phone, pressing around the edges to seal it. Slide the S Pen back into its housing.
