Step-by-step

Eject the S Pen
1 minPress the top button of the S Pen to release it, then pull the stylus completely out of its housing slot.

Extract the Worn Nib
2 minGrasp the tip of the S Pen nib firmly using the nib removal tool or fine precision tweezers and pull it straight out.

Insert the Replacement Nib
1 minSlide the new nib into the tip of the S Pen stylus and press gently until it clicks into position.

Remove the Rear Cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the seam notch near the power button and pry the back cover off the chassis.

Remove the Battery
1 minUse your finger or a plastic spudger to lift the battery out from the recess at the bottom edge.

Remove the Midframe Screws
4 minUnscrew the sixteen Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe to the display assembly.

Separate the Midframe Assembly
5 minInsert an opening pick between the display glass and the chrome bezel, sliding around the perimeter to unclip the midframe.

Disconnect the S Pen Sensor Flex Cable
2 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to gently pop the S Pen detection sensor press connector off the motherboard.

Unseat the S Pen Detection Switch
3 minUse fine tweezers to lift the small S Pen insertion sensor switch out of its channel inside the pen slot.

Install the Replacement Sensor Cable
3 minAlign the new S Pen detection flex cable into the channel and press the sensor switch flat into its housing.

Connect the Flex Cable to Motherboard
2 minAlign the press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until you feel a soft snap.

Snap the Midframe into Place
3 minPosition the midframe over the body of the phone and press along all four edges until every clip snaps closed.

Reinstall All Midframe Screws
4 minThread and tighten the sixteen Phillips #00 screws around the frame to firmly secure the midframe.

Reinsert Battery and Rear Cover
2 minPlace the battery back into its bay, snap the rear cover down tightly along the edges, and slide the S Pen back in.
