Step-by-step

Eject the S-Pen
1 minPress the end of the S-Pen to release it, then pull the stylus completely out of the frame.

Remove the Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the power button and pry the rear cover off the phone.

Remove the Battery
1 minUse your finger to lift the battery out from the recess near the bottom of the bay.

Remove the SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minSlide the MicroSD card and SIM card straight out of their respective tray slots.

Unscrew the Midframe
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 16 screws securing the midframe to the display assembly.

Pry the Midframe Loose
3 minInsert an opening pick into the seam between the chrome bezel and the screen, then slide it around the perimeter to release the internal clips.

Separate the Midframe
2 minGently lift and remove the midframe assembly away from the display chassis.

Disconnect the Antenna Cables
2 minUse the flat tip of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the red and blue coaxial antenna cables from the daughterboard.

Disconnect the Display Cable
1 minPry the display flex ribbon cable connector straight up from the motherboard.

Disconnect the Board Flex Ribbon
1 minUse your spudger to pop the lower daughterboard connector off its socket on the main motherboard.

Unseat the Soft Key Ribbons
3 minCarefully slide fine tweezers under the touch button flex ribbons on either side of the home button to peel them off the frame.

Remove the Daughterboard and Microphone
2 minInsert a spudger under the lower daughterboard assembly and gently pry it up to remove the port and microphone unit.

Install the New Microphone Board
2 minPlace the new daughterboard assembly into position, ensuring the primary microphone aligns with its rubber gasket.

Reattach the Soft Key Ribbons
2 minPress the capacitive touch button ribbons firmly back down onto their adhesive pads on the frame.

Reconnect All Board Connectors
2 minSnap the main daughterboard flex connector and the two coaxial antenna cables back onto their sockets.

Snap the Midframe into Place
2 minAlign the midframe over the front assembly and press firmly along all edges until it clicks tightly together.

Secure the Midframe Screws
3 minReinstall all 16 Phillips #00 screws into the midframe to hold the phone structure together.

Reinstall Battery and Rear Cover
2 minReinsert the SIM card, MicroSD card, battery, and S-Pen, then press the back cover firmly onto the phone.
