Step-by-step

Remove the S Pen
1 minPress the top of the S Pen to release it, then slide it out from the bottom slot of the device.

Remove the rear cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch near the power button and pry the rear cover off.

Remove the battery
1 minLift the battery out of its compartment using the recessed notch at the bottom edge.

Eject the micro SD card
1 minPress the micro SD card inward until it clicks, then pull it straight out of its slot.

Eject the SIM card
1 minSlide the SIM card out from its designated slot above the battery bay.

Remove midframe screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 12 screws securing the rear midframe assembly.

Unclip the midframe
3 minInsert a spudger between the front display assembly and the outer chrome midframe rim to release the perimeter clips.

Remove the midframe
1 minGently lift the midframe away from the display and motherboard assembly once all clips are freed.

Pry out the loudspeaker module
2 minUse tweezers or the flat end of a spudger to carefully lift the speaker module out of the lower midframe cavity.

Install the new loudspeaker
2 minPlace the replacement speaker module into the midframe slot and press down lightly to seat it.

Reattach the midframe
2 minAlign the midframe with the phone chassis and press firmly along the edges until all plastic clips snap into place.

Secure the midframe screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the 12 Phillips #00 screws around the perimeter of the midframe.

Reinsert SIM and micro SD cards
1 minSlide the SIM card and micro SD card back into their respective slots until fully seated.

Reinstall the battery
1 minAlign the gold battery contacts with the terminal pins in the phone and press the battery flat into place.

Snap on the rear cover
1 minPosition the rear cover over the phone and press around all edges until it snaps tight.

Reinsert the S Pen
1 minSlide the S Pen back into its housing slot until it locks securely into place.
