Step-by-step

Eject the S Pen
1 minPress the top of the S Pen stylus to unlatch it, then slide it out from the bottom slot.

Remove the rear cover
1 minInsert a plastic spudger into the pry notch near the power button and lift the rear panel away.

Remove the battery
1 minLift the battery out of its recess using your fingernail or a plastic pry tool.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
2 minSlide the SIM card and microSD card out of their stacked slot.

Unscrew the midframe
4 minRemove the 12 Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe to the display assembly.

Unclip the midframe
3 minInsert a plastic pry tool between the chrome bezel and the display assembly to unhook the perimeter clips.

Separate the midframe
1 minLift the midframe assembly away from the rest of the phone chassis.

Disconnect the power button flex
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the power button flex cable connector straight up from the motherboard.

Peel off the power button flex
2 minGently slide tweezers under the old power button flex cable and peel it off the side chassis frame.

Position the new power button flex
2 minRemove the adhesive backing from the replacement power button flex cable and press it firmly into the chassis recess.

Connect the flex cable
2 minAlign the flex cable press connector over its motherboard socket and press down until it snaps into place.

Snap the midframe in place
2 minAlign the midframe over the display assembly and press around the perimeter until all plastic clips snap shut.

Fasten the midframe screws
3 minReinstall the 12 Phillips #00 screws to firmly attach the midframe to the chassis.

Reinstall cards, battery, and cover
2 minReinsert the SIM card, microSD card, and battery, then snap the back cover on and reinsert the S Pen.
