Step-by-step

Eject the S Pen
1 minPress the end of the S Pen to release it, then slide it out of the bottom slot.

Remove the Rear Cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening pick or fingernail into the notch near the power button and pry the back cover off.

Remove the Battery
1 minLift the battery out of its recess using the recess notch near the top edge.

Remove SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minPress and slide both the SIM card and microSD card out from their stacked slot.

Unscrew Midframe Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the twelve screws securing the internal midframe to the phone.

Pry Off Midframe
2 minInsert a spudger between the outer chrome bezel and the front display assembly to release the plastic clips around the perimeter.

Separate Midframe Assembly
1 minLift the midframe off the front screen and motherboard assembly.

Disconnect Antenna Cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to gently pop the white and blue coaxial antenna connectors off the charging port board.

Disconnect Soft Key Connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the touch button ribbon cable off its socket on the daughterboard.

Disconnect Mainboard Ribbon Cable
1 minPry up the press-fit ribbon connector linking the charging port board to the main logic board.

Unseat Old Charging Port Assembly
2 minGently slide a spudger beneath the daughterboard to loosen the mild adhesive and lift the board out of the housing.

Place Replacement Port Board
2 minAlign the new USB charging port board into position at the bottom of the frame and press firmly into place.

Reconnect Mainboard Ribbon Cable
1 minPress the main ribbon connector straight down onto its motherboard socket until it clicks into place.

Reconnect Soft Key Connector
1 minAlign and snap the touch button ribbon connector back onto the new daughterboard.

Attach Antenna Cables
2 minCarefully snap the white and blue antenna cable heads onto their corresponding gold terminals on the daughterboard.

Realign Midframe Assembly
2 minPlace the midframe back onto the body of the phone and press down firm along the edges until all clips snap shut.

Secure Midframe Screws
3 minReinsert and tighten the twelve Phillips #00 screws around the perimeter of the midframe.

Reinsert SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minPush the SIM card and microSD card back into their respective slots until fully seated.

Reinstall Battery
1 minAlign the metallic battery contacts with the phone contacts and drop the battery into the recess.

Snap On Rear Cover
1 minAlign the rear cover over the back of the device and press around the perimeter until every tab snaps closed.

Reinsert S Pen
1 minSlide the S Pen back into its housing slot at the bottom of the phone until it locks.
