Step-by-step

Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons, then tap Power Off on the screen.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole at the top edge of the frame to remove the card tray.

Remove the S-Pen
1 minPush the S-Pen inward until it clicks, then pull it completely out of its slot at the bottom.

Heat the rear glass
3 minApply heat around the perimeter of the back cover for three minutes using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower back glass and pull upward firmly to create a tiny gap.

1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the battery flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Unscrew the lower speaker enclosure
2 minRemove the five Phillips #000 screws holding down the loudspeaker module at the bottom of the device.

Remove the loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the edge of the speaker module and lift it out of the phone.

Disconnect the interconnect cables
2 minDisconnect both the main interconnect cable and display flex cable from the bottom daughterboard.

Remove the daughterboard screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw holding the microphone daughterboard to the bottom chassis.

Remove the microphone daughterboard
2 minPry beneath the daughterboard with a spudger to release it from the chassis along with the primary microphone.

Install the new microphone board
2 minAlign the replacement daughterboard into the chassis and press it gently into position.
