Safety

Step-by-step

Remove the Rear Cover
1 minPry up the rear plastic cover using a fingernail or plastic opening tool at the notch near the power button.

Remove the Battery
1 minLift the battery out of its recess from the bottom edge and set it aside.

Eject the S-Pen
1 minSlide the S-Pen stylus out of its slot at the bottom corner of the device.

Remove MicroSD and SIM Cards
1 minPress down on the SIM and MicroSD cards to unlock them, then pull both out from their slots.

Unscrew the Midframe
3 minRemove eleven Phillips #00 screws securing the rear midframe to the phone chassis.

Detach the Midframe
3 minInsert a spudger between the chrome bezel and the midframe to unsnap the clips around the perimeter.

Disconnect the Display Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry up the LCD display flex connector from the motherboard.

Disconnect the Digitizer Flex
1 minPop the digitizer flex cable off its connector located near the top right of the motherboard.

Disconnect the Front Camera Assembly
1 minDisconnect the front-facing camera and proximity sensor flex connector from the top left of the motherboard.

Disconnect the Earpiece Speaker Connector
1 minUnplug the earpiece speaker and headphone jack assembly flex connector.

Disconnect the Charging Port Flex
1 minPry up the lower ribbon cable connector that links the charging assembly to the motherboard.

Unplug Antenna Cables
2 minCarefully detach the coaxial antenna cables from the lower right side of the motherboard using tweezers.

Unscrew the Motherboard
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw holding the motherboard to the frame near the top center.

Remove the Motherboard
2 minGently tilt the motherboard up from the bottom and lift it out of the phone body.

Warm the Front Screen Glass
3 minApply heat to the front glass using a heat gun on low for 1-2 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom of the front glass screen and press firm to seal.

Separate Glass from Frame
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a gap and insert a plastic opening pick beneath the glass.

Slice Screen Adhesive
4 minSlide opening picks around all four edges of the display to slice through the softened adhesive.

Lift Off Damaged Screen Assembly
2 minPry the broken screen assembly away from the frame while carefully threading flex cables through the slots.

Clean Frame Adhesive
5 minScrape away remaining old adhesive strips and broken glass fragments from the frame using a spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

Apply Double-Sided Adhesive
3 minLay down fresh precut adhesive strips along the top, bottom, and side borders of the clean frame.

Thread Flex Cables
2 minGuide the LCD and digitizer flex ribbon cables of the new screen assembly through the matching frame cutouts.

Seat the New Screen
2 minPress the new screen assembly firmly into the frame to adhere it, applying even pressure along edges.

Reinstall Motherboard
2 minLower the motherboard back into the chassis and secure it with the single Phillips #00 screw.

Reconnect Motherboard Connectors
3 minPress down firmly on all flex connectors, including display, digitizer, camera, speaker, and antenna cables.

Snap Rear Midframe in Place
2 minAlign the plastic midframe over the body and press around the edges until all perimeter clips snap shut.

Reinstall Screws
3 minDrive the eleven Phillips #00 screws back into the rear midframe to lock it down.

Reinsert Cards, Battery, and Cover
2 minSlide SIM/MicroSD cards into their slots, insert the battery, slide in the S-Pen, and snap the rear cover back on.
