Step-by-step

Eject the S Pen
1 minSlide the S Pen stylus completely out from its housing slot at the bottom corner of the device.

Pry Off the Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool or fingernail into the pry notch near the power button and lift the rear panel away.

Remove the Battery
1 minLift the battery out from the recess at the bottom of the battery compartment.

Remove SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minSlide the micro-SIM and microSD cards out from their respective tray slots.

Unscrew the Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all eleven screws securing the rear midframe assembly.

Unclip the Midframe Perimeter
3 minInsert a plastic pry tool between the chrome bezel and midframe to release the plastic retaining clips.

Separate the Midframe Assembly
2 minWork the opening tool around the entire perimeter to fully detach the midframe from the front panel chassis.

Disconnect the S Pen Sensor Cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pop the S Pen detection sensor flex cable off its motherboard socket.

Unseat the S Pen Switch Module
2 minUse fine tweezers to lift the micro-switch sensor board out of the recessed channel in the stylus chute.

Install the New S Pen Switch Module
2 minPosition the replacement S Pen sensor switch into the chute slot and press down gently to stick the adhesive layer.

Reconnect the Flex Cable
1 minAlign the press connector over the motherboard socket and snap it down firmly.

Reattach the Midframe
2 minAlign the midframe with the front display assembly and press firmly around the edges to snap the clips into place.

Secure the Screws and Reassemble
3 minReinstall the eleven Phillips #00 screws, insert your cards and battery, snap on the back cover, and slide in the S Pen.
