Turn off the Galaxy Note 2

Remove the rear cover
1 minInsert your fingernail or a plastic opening tool into the notch at the top of the rear cover and pry it away from the phone.

Remove the battery

Remove SIM and microSD cards

3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 11 screws securing the midframe to the phone chassis.

Pry off the midframe bezel

Disconnect the screen cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pry up the display connector from its socket on the motherboard.

Disconnect the front camera flex
1 minPry up the front-facing camera and sensor assembly flex connector from the upper portion of the motherboard.

Disconnect the headphone jack flex
1 minUse your spudger to pop off the earpiece speaker and headphone jack flex cable connector.

Disconnect the charging port flex
1 minPry up the ribbon cable connector for the charging port and soft button assembly near the bottom of the motherboard.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minUnclip the coaxial antenna cable connector near the bottom right edge of the motherboard using tweezers or a spudger.

Remove the motherboard screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the top section of the logic board to the inner frame.

Lift out the motherboard
2 minGently lift the logic board from the top edge and swing it out of the chassis, ensuring no cables get caught.

Position the replacement motherboard
2 minSet the new logic board into place, aligning the bottom port section first before lowering the top into the frame.

Reconnect all flex cables
3 minPress down firmly on all flex connectors until they snap into place, including the antenna cable and display connector.

Secure the midframe
3 minSnap the midframe bezel back onto the phone frame and reinstall the 11 Phillips screws tightly.
