Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons, then tap Power Off on the screen.

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the top edge of the phone to pop out the SIM card tray.

Heat the back glass
3 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer along the perimeter of the back cover for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along all four edges to cut through the adhesive seal.

Lift off the back cover
1 minCarefully lift the back cover away from the midframe and set it aside.

Unscrew the speaker assembly
3 minRemove the seven Phillips #00 screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing to the frame.

2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker housing and gently lift it out of the phone.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to snap the battery connector straight up from the mainboard.

Disconnect the interconnect cable
1 minPry up the lower flex connector of the main interconnect ribbon cable from the daughterboard.

Detach the coaxial cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to unsnap the black and white coaxial antenna cables from the daughterboard.

Pry up the daughterboard
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the daughterboard housing the primary microphone and gently lever it out of the frame.

Replace the microphone board
2 minPlace the new sub-board equipped with the primary microphone into the bottom recess of the chassis.

Reconnect the lower cables
3 minSnap the coaxial antenna cables and the main interconnect flex cable firmly back onto the new daughterboard.

Reinstall the loudspeaker cover
3 minPosition the loudspeaker module over the daughterboard and secure it with the seven Phillips #00 screws.

Apply new back panel adhesive
4 minClean remaining glue with isopropyl alcohol, place new custom adhesive strips along the frame, and press the back cover firmly into place.
